Course Introduction

Youth livelihood development is a critical pillar of social and economic transformation, focusing on empowering young people with skills, opportunities, and resources to achieve sustainable livelihoods. This course provides a comprehensive framework for designing and implementing effective youth employment and skills transition programs.

The program explores the challenges facing youth in labor markets, including unemployment, underemployment, skills mismatch, and limited access to economic opportunities. Participants will learn how to design interventions that address these structural barriers.

A strong emphasis is placed on skills development, vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and employability enhancement. Participants will gain practical knowledge on how to bridge the gap between education systems and labor market demands.

The course also highlights inclusive approaches to youth development, ensuring participation of vulnerable groups such as young women, rural youth, and marginalized populations. Equity and inclusion are central to program design and implementation.

Participants will explore innovative livelihood models including digital economy opportunities, green jobs, agribusiness, creative industries, and social entrepreneurship. These emerging sectors offer new pathways for youth empowerment and economic participation.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design, implement, and evaluate youth livelihood programs that promote skills transition, employment creation, and sustainable economic empowerment.
