Course Introduction

Women’s Leadership in Environmental Conservation and Sustainability Course is designed to strengthen the capacity of women leaders, practitioners, and advocates to actively participate in environmental governance, climate action, and sustainable development initiatives across local, national, and global levels.

Environmental degradation, climate change, and biodiversity loss are disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities, especially women and girls. This course explores how gender dynamics intersect with environmental challenges and how women’s leadership can drive more equitable and effective conservation solutions.

Participants will examine key concepts in sustainability, environmental justice, climate resilience, and natural resource governance, with a focus on how women can shape policies and lead action-oriented environmental programs in diverse contexts including rural, urban, and coastal ecosystems.

The course emphasizes practical leadership skills, enabling participants to design and implement community-based conservation initiatives, climate adaptation strategies, and sustainable resource management programs that are inclusive and participatory.

A strong focus is placed on policy advocacy and environmental governance, equipping participants to engage with decision-making processes, influence environmental policies, and strengthen women’s representation in sustainability leadership spaces.
