Course Introduction

Women’s Empowerment in Climate Adaptation and Resilience Initiatives Course is designed to strengthen the leadership, technical capacity, and participation of women in climate resilience planning, adaptation strategies, and sustainable environmental governance systems.

Climate change disproportionately affects women and vulnerable communities, particularly in rural and resource-dependent regions. This course explores how gender-responsive climate adaptation strategies can reduce vulnerability while strengthening community resilience and sustainable livelihoods.

Participants will examine climate science fundamentals, adaptation frameworks, and resilience-building strategies that integrate gender equality principles into environmental planning and disaster risk reduction systems.

The course emphasizes the role of women as key agents of change in climate adaptation, highlighting their contributions in agriculture, water management, renewable energy, and natural resource governance.

Practical tools and participatory approaches are introduced to help participants design, implement, and evaluate women-centered climate resilience initiatives at local, national, and institutional levels.

Ultimately, the course empowers stakeholders to build inclusive climate adaptation systems that strengthen women’s leadership, enhance community resilience, and promote sustainable environmental transformation.
