Course Introduction

Digital trade and e-commerce are rapidly transforming global markets, creating new opportunities for economic growth, entrepreneurship, and cross-border trade participation. However, women remain underrepresented in digital commerce ecosystems due to barriers such as limited digital skills, restricted access to finance, and unequal market opportunities. This course addresses these gaps by empowering women to actively participate and lead in digital trade systems.

Women’s economic participation in digital markets is not only a matter of equity but also a key driver of inclusive economic development. When women are fully integrated into e-commerce ecosystems, economies experience increased innovation, improved household incomes, and expanded market diversity. This course explores how digital platforms can be leveraged to enhance women’s economic empowerment globally.

Despite the expansion of e-commerce platforms and digital payment systems, many women entrepreneurs face structural challenges such as limited access to technology, digital literacy gaps, and restrictive trade environments. This training provides practical solutions to overcome these barriers through targeted capacity building, policy awareness, and digital entrepreneurship strategies.

The course also examines global digital trade frameworks, including cross-border e-commerce regulations, digital taxation systems, and platform governance structures.
