Course Introduction

Women’s economic justice is a foundational pillar for achieving inclusive growth, equitable development, and sustainable social transformation. Despite global progress, women continue to face systemic barriers such as unequal pay, limited access to resources, informal employment conditions, and exclusion from financial systems. This course provides a comprehensive framework for addressing these structural inequalities through policy, practice, and advocacy.

Economic inequality is deeply interconnected with broader social injustices, including education disparities, unpaid care work, and restricted access to land, credit, and productive assets. These challenges limit women’s ability to participate fully in economic systems and decision-making spaces. This course examines how economic justice can serve as a catalyst for broader social transformation.

A key focus of the program is understanding the intersection between gender, economics, and development policy. Participants will explore how fiscal systems, labor markets, and social protection programs can either reinforce or reduce inequality. The course emphasizes evidence-based approaches to designing inclusive economic systems.

The program also addresses the role of institutions, governments, and civil society in advancing women’s economic empowerment. Participants will analyze strategies for improving access to finance, entrepreneurship opportunities, decent work, and social protection systems that support women’s economic independence.

In addition, the course explores grassroots movements, advocacy strategies, and community-driven approaches that challenge structural inequality and promote economic justice. Participants will gain tools to support transformative change at both policy and community levels.

Ultimately, this course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to advance women’s economic justice and contribute to meaningful social transformation in diverse socio-economic contexts.
