Introduction

Women play a critical role in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, bringing unique perspectives, skills, and approaches to sustaining peace and social cohesion. The Women in Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Training Course equips participants with knowledge, practical tools, and strategies to enhance women’s participation in peace processes and conflict transformation.

The course explores the structural, social, and cultural barriers that limit women’s engagement in conflict resolution, peace negotiations, and decision-making. Participants will learn methods to overcome these challenges and promote inclusive, gender-sensitive peace processes.

Participants will develop competencies in negotiation, mediation, dialogue facilitation, and advocacy for gender-responsive peacebuilding. Emphasis is placed on participatory approaches, collaborative leadership, and evidence-based conflict analysis.

Emerging topics such as digital peacebuilding tools, community-based approaches, post-conflict reconstruction, and transitional justice are integrated. Participants will explore innovative strategies to empower women as agents of change in diverse conflict contexts.

The course also examines international and regional frameworks, including UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, AU protocols, and human rights instruments. Participants will learn to align peacebuilding initiatives with global standards for gender equality and conflict prevention.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to lead gender-responsive peacebuilding initiatives, mediate conflicts, advocate for inclusive policies, strengthen institutional capacities, and contribute to sustainable peace and social cohesion at local, national, and regional levels.
