Course Introduction

The Water Security Intelligence using GIS and Satellite Technologies Course provides an advanced interdisciplinary approach to understanding, monitoring, and managing global water resources using geospatial intelligence, remote sensing, and satellite-based environmental monitoring systems.

This course introduces foundational concepts of hydrological systems, water cycle dynamics, and spatial data integration techniques used to assess water availability, distribution, and risk. Participants will explore how GIS and satellite technologies enhance water resource governance and decision-making.

A strong emphasis is placed on satellite-based Earth observation systems, enabling participants to analyze drought patterns, flood risks, groundwater changes, and surface water dynamics using high-resolution spatial and temporal datasets.

The program further examines predictive water security modelling techniques, integrating climate data, hydrological models, and machine learning approaches to forecast water scarcity, contamination risks, and supply-demand imbalances.

Participants will also engage with advanced geospatial platforms, including GIS dashboards, remote sensing tools, hydrological modelling software, and AI-driven analytics systems that support real-time water intelligence monitoring.

Ultimately, the course prepares professionals to design and implement water security intelligence systems that support sustainable water management, climate resilience, and evidence-based resource planning.
