Course Introduction

Water security and climate resilience are increasingly critical global priorities as societies face rising climate variability, population growth, and increasing pressure on freshwater resources. This course provides advanced knowledge on how to safeguard water systems against present and future risks.

The program explores the complex relationship between water availability, climate change impacts, and socio-economic development. Participants will learn how water insecurity affects agriculture, health, ecosystems, and urban systems at multiple scales.

A strong focus is placed on resilience-building strategies, including adaptive water management, risk reduction, and integrated planning approaches that strengthen systems against droughts, floods, and uncertainty.

The course integrates climate science, hydrology, governance, and policy frameworks to provide a holistic understanding of water security challenges and solutions in diverse geographic and institutional contexts.

Participants will examine global best practices, innovative technologies, and nature-based solutions that enhance water resilience and ensure sustainable access to safe and reliable water resources.

By the end of the course, learners will be equipped to design, implement, and evaluate water security strategies that strengthen resilience and support sustainable development under climate stress.
