Introduction
Trauma-informed leadership and governance recognize that individual and collective trauma significantly shape behavior, decision-making, and organizational culture. This course provides leaders with a deep understanding of how trauma influences systems, institutions, and governance outcomes.
Participants will explore the foundations of trauma theory, including adverse experiences, chronic stress, and organizational trauma. The course links neuroscience, psychology, and leadership practice to explain how trauma affects trust, authority, accountability, and performance.
The course emphasizes the importance of safety, transparency, empathy, and empowerment in leadership and governance processes. Participants will learn how trauma-informed principles can strengthen ethical leadership, inclusive policies, and responsive institutional frameworks.
Special focus is placed on leadership within high-stress, crisis-prone, and post-conflict environments, where unresolved trauma can undermine governance effectiveness. Participants will gain practical tools to lead teams, institutions, and communities with compassion and resilience.
