Introduction

Efficient transport and logistics systems are vital for the seamless flow of goods, services, and information in today’s globalized economy. As businesses, organization and governments strive to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction, transport and logistics management has emerged as a critical strategic function. This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, practices, and tools used in modern transport and logistics management.

The course explores key components of the logistics value chain, including transportation planning, inventory management, warehousing, distribution strategies, and supply chain coordination. Participants will learn how to evaluate and select optimal transport modes, plan routes, manage fleet operations, and apply technologies such as GPS tracking, ERP systems, and transport management software (TMS) to streamline logistics processes.

A major focus of the training is on sustainability, cost-efficiency, and resilience. Participants will be introduced to green logistics practices, reverse logistics, risk mitigation strategies, and performance measurement frameworks that enable continuous improvement in service delivery. The course also integrates real-world case studies to demonstrate how successful logistics systems contribute to competitiveness and economic development.

In addition to operational strategies, the course addresses regulatory frameworks, international trade logistics, and the importance of effective stakeholder coordination across the public and private sectors. Emphasis is placed on adapting logistics systems to meet emerging challenges such as climate change, urbanization, supply chain disruptions, and digital transformation.

By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with practical knowledge and decision-making skills to manage transport and logistics functions more effectively. Whether working in manufacturing, humanitarian relief, infrastructure, or the public sector, attendees will gain insights to enhance reliability, responsiveness, and value in logistics systems.
