Course Introduction
Synthetic media is transforming the information environment by enabling highly convincing AI-generated or manipulated images, video, audio, text, and digital identities to be produced rapidly and distributed at scale. For organisations, these capabilities create a new class of incident that can affect reputation, executive credibility, stakeholder confidence, operational continuity, and public trust. This course provides a structured approach to understanding, managing, and responding to synthetic media incidents across corporate, public-sector, and institutional environments.
The programme examines the evolving threat landscape surrounding deepfakes, AI-generated voices, manipulated video, synthetic photography, fabricated documents, automated content, and coordinated information manipulation. Effective synthetic media incident management requires rapid coordination across multiple organisational functions. Communications teams must work alongside cybersecurity, corporate security, legal, compliance, technology, leadership, and operational stakeholders to determine what has happened, what is credible, who may be affected, and how the organisation should respond.
