Course Introduction

Supply chain scenario planning and simulation has become a critical capability for organizations operating in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environments. Traditional planning methods are no longer sufficient to address disruptions caused by geopolitical instability, climate change, pandemics, and global supply chain shocks. This program equips participants with advanced techniques to anticipate, model, and evaluate multiple supply chain futures using structured scenario planning and simulation tools.

Modern supply chains require leaders who can think beyond linear forecasting and instead explore multiple possible outcomes simultaneously. Scenario planning enables organizations to prepare for a range of uncertainties by developing structured “what-if” models that assess risks, opportunities, and operational impacts. This course introduces participants to frameworks that help organizations shift from reactive decision-making to proactive strategic preparedness.

Simulation techniques are at the core of this program, enabling participants to replicate real-world supply chain behavior under different conditions. Through advanced modeling, participants will learn how variables such as demand fluctuations, supplier disruptions, transportation delays, and capacity constraints affect overall supply chain performance. These insights allow organizations to test strategies before implementation, reducing risk and improving resilience.

The program also focuses on data-driven decision-making, emphasizing the importance of integrating analytics, forecasting tools, and digital platforms into scenario planning processes. Participants will explore how to use quantitative and qualitative data to build realistic supply chain models that support strategic planning, operational optimization, and risk mitigation across global networks.

A key emphasis is placed on supply chain resilience and agility. Organizations must be able to adapt quickly to disruptions while maintaining service levels and operational continuity. This course provides frameworks for building flexible supply chain strategies that allow rapid adjustment of sourcing, production, and distribution decisions based on changing conditions.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to design, implement, and interpret supply chain scenarios and simulations that support strategic decision-making. They will gain the ability to anticipate disruptions, evaluate alternative strategies, and build resilient supply chain systems capable of performing under uncertainty and complexity.
