Course Introduction

Supply chain cost-to-serve and profitability analysis is a strategic discipline that enables organizations to understand the true cost of delivering products and services to customers across complex supply chain networks. This course provides a structured approach to identifying, measuring, and optimizing these costs.

In many organizations, profitability is not accurately understood at the customer, product, or channel level due to hidden supply chain costs. This course introduces methodologies for breaking down end-to-end supply chain activities into measurable cost components.

Participants will learn how to apply cost-to-serve models that allocate logistics, warehousing, transportation, inventory, and service costs to specific customers and product segments. This enables more accurate profitability analysis and pricing strategies.

The course emphasizes the importance of activity-based costing (ABC) and advanced analytics in uncovering inefficiencies across supply chain operations. Participants will gain insight into how value is created or eroded at each stage of the supply chain.

A strong focus is placed on linking operational performance with financial outcomes. This helps organizations move beyond traditional cost accounting and adopt a more strategic, data-driven profitability management approach.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to evaluate supply chain profitability at granular levels, identify cost drivers, and implement strategies that improve both efficiency and margin performance.
