Course Introduction

The Supplier and Third-Party Financial Risk Auditing Training Course provides a comprehensive framework for identifying, assessing, testing, and managing financial risks arising from suppliers, contractors, vendors, service providers, intermediaries, and other external business relationships. The programme equips participants with practical audit techniques for evaluating third-party financial exposure and determining whether supplier relationships are supported by effective governance, controls, documentation, and financial oversight.

The course examines the complete third-party financial risk lifecycle, beginning with supplier selection and due diligence and continuing through contracting, purchasing, invoicing, payment, performance monitoring, contract amendments, renewal, and termination. Participants will learn how to assess supplier financial information, transaction records, contractual arrangements, pricing structures, payment patterns, and performance indicators to identify risks that could adversely affect organisational finances, operations, compliance, and business continuity.

Participants will explore supplier-related risks such as financial instability, excessive concentration, dependency, fraud, overbilling, duplicate payments, inaccurate pricing, unauthorised transactions, conflicts of interest, poor contract management, and inadequate financial documentation. The programme also examines how weaknesses in procurement, accounts payable, supplier onboarding, contract management, and third-party monitoring can create financial leakage and expose organisations to avoidable losses.

The training incorporates modern financial risk auditing techniques, including data analytics, continuous monitoring, supplier segmentation, financial health assessment, transaction testing, exception analysis, benchmarking, scenario analysis, and risk-based audit planning. Participants will learn how to combine financial and non-financial information to develop a more complete understanding of third-party exposure and determine which suppliers, contracts, transactions, or business relationships require enhanced scrutiny.

Emerging issues are addressed throughout the programme, including supply-chain disruption, geopolitical uncertainty, inflation, foreign exchange volatility, cyber-enabled supplier fraud, cloud and technology vendors, artificial intelligence providers, subcontractor dependencies, sustainability requirements, fourth-party risk, and increasingly interconnected global supply chains. These developments require organisations to strengthen third-party financial oversight and establish more dynamic approaches to supplier risk assessment and monitoring.

By completing the programme, participants will be able to design and conduct supplier and third-party financial risk audits, evaluate supplier financial resilience, identify transaction and contract risks, assess internal controls, detect potential financial leakage, and communicate significant findings to management. The course supports stronger supplier governance, improved financial resilience, better procurement decisions, and more effective management of third-party financial exposure.
