Course Introduction

Soil conservation and land rehabilitation are critical pillars of sustainable land management, ensuring that degraded landscapes are restored to productive and ecologically stable systems. This course provides comprehensive knowledge on preventing soil degradation and restoring land productivity.

Soil erosion, deforestation, overgrazing, and unsustainable farming practices continue to degrade land resources globally, reducing agricultural output and threatening ecosystem stability. This training equips participants with practical techniques to reverse land degradation trends.

Participants will explore soil conservation strategies including terracing, contour farming, afforestation, mulching, and erosion control structures designed to stabilize soil and improve land productivity across diverse ecosystems.

The course also focuses on land rehabilitation approaches such as reclamation of degraded soils, restoration of vegetation cover, and sustainable land-use planning that balances ecological and economic needs.

Special emphasis is placed on climate change impacts, desertification, and land degradation neutrality frameworks that guide global efforts to restore degraded ecosystems and improve resilience.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to design and implement soil conservation and land rehabilitation programs that enhance productivity, restore ecosystems, and support sustainable land management.
