Course Introduction

The Social Work Program Design for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Course is developed to equip social work professionals with advanced competencies in designing innovative, sustainable, and impact-driven programs that address complex social challenges through entrepreneurial and creative approaches. It bridges traditional social work practice with modern innovation and enterprise thinking.

This course explores how social innovation can be applied to address persistent social issues such as poverty, unemployment, inequality, and exclusion. Participants learn how to move beyond conventional service delivery models and develop entrepreneurial solutions that generate both social value and measurable community impact.

A strong emphasis is placed on program design thinking, human-centered design, and systems innovation approaches that encourage creativity, adaptability, and sustainability. Learners are guided in transforming ideas into structured social programs that respond to real community needs while ensuring long-term viability and scalability.

The course also introduces social entrepreneurship models that enable social workers to develop income-generating and impact-oriented initiatives. Participants examine how to balance financial sustainability with social mission, ensuring that programs remain both effective and ethically grounded in social justice principles.

Emerging trends such as digital social innovation, impact investing, green entrepreneurship, and technology-enabled social services are explored in depth. These innovations are reshaping how social work programs are designed, funded, and implemented in rapidly changing global environments.

Ultimately, this course empowers social work professionals to become innovators and change-makers. Graduates will be equipped to design, launch, and manage socially innovative programs that combine entrepreneurial thinking with social impact, driving sustainable solutions for communities in need.
