Course Introduction

Organizations across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors are increasingly required to demonstrate not only what they do, but also the value and impact they create for society. The Social Return on Investment (SROI) and Impact Measurement Training Course provides participants with practical tools and methodologies to quantify, measure, and communicate social, environmental, and economic value generated by programs, projects, and investments. The course emphasizes evidence-based approaches that strengthen accountability, transparency, and strategic decision-making.

Social Return on Investment has emerged as a globally recognized framework for understanding and valuing outcomes that matter to stakeholders. Unlike traditional financial analysis, SROI incorporates social and environmental outcomes into decision-making processes, enabling organizations to assess broader impacts. Participants will learn how to calculate social value, identify stakeholders, establish outcome pathways, and assign financial proxies to outcomes that are often difficult to quantify.

The course explores contemporary impact measurement frameworks used by development agencies, foundations, governments, corporations, and social enterprises. Participants will gain insights into impact measurement systems that support strategic planning, resource allocation, donor reporting, and performance management. Through practical examples and case studies, learners will understand how to measure both intended and unintended outcomes across complex interventions.

As impact investing and results-based management continue to expand globally, organizations require professionals capable of producing credible impact evidence. This training provides a structured approach to collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data that demonstrates social change. Participants will learn how to develop theories of change, establish impact indicators, and measure long-term outcomes while ensuring methodological rigor and stakeholder engagement.

Emerging topics such as ESG reporting, sustainability measurement, impact investing, digital impact analytics, integrated reporting, artificial intelligence in impact assessment, and data-driven evaluation are incorporated throughout the course. Participants will explore how modern technologies and innovative methodologies are transforming impact measurement practices across sectors and geographical contexts.

By the end of the course, participants will possess the knowledge and practical skills needed to conduct SROI analyses, design impact measurement frameworks, evaluate social value creation, communicate findings effectively, and support evidence-based decision-making that maximizes social impact and organizational effectiveness.
