Introduction
Seismic data interpretation and analysis play a critical role in modern exploration and development activities by enabling accurate imaging of the subsurface. This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of seismic principles and interpretation methodologies used to identify geological structures, stratigraphic features, and reservoir systems across diverse exploration settings.
The programme is designed to strengthen participants’ ability to work confidently with seismic datasets by linking geophysical theory to practical interpretation workflows. Emphasis is placed on understanding seismic acquisition, processing fundamentals, and data quality limitations that directly influence interpretation accuracy and decision-making reliability.
Participants will gain hands-on exposure to structural and stratigraphic interpretation techniques applied to 2D, 3D, and time-lapse seismic data. The course highlights how seismic interpretation supports exploration prospect generation, field development planning, and subsurface risk reduction in complex geological environments.
An integrated approach is central to the course, combining seismic data with well logs, petrophysical analysis, and geological models. This integration enhances reservoir characterization, improves depth conversion accuracy, and supports better estimation of subsurface volumes and uncertainties during exploration and development phases.
The programme also explores the growing impact of digital transformation in seismic interpretation, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced visualization tools. These emerging technologies are reshaping how seismic data is analyzed, accelerating interpretation workflows and improving predictive capabilities.
By the end of the course, participants will possess a robust, application-focused understanding of seismic data interpretation and analysis. They will be equipped to contribute effectively to exploration strategies, development planning, and sustainable resource management within the energy and extractive industries.
