Course Introduction

School social work plays a vital role in promoting student well-being, academic success, and holistic development within educational environments. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of how social workers operate within schools to address academic, emotional, behavioral, and social challenges affecting learners.

The program explores the intersection between education systems and social welfare services, highlighting how poverty, family instability, mental health issues, and community environments impact student performance and school attendance. Participants will learn to identify barriers to learning and design appropriate interventions.

Participants will gain practical skills in supporting students through counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and family engagement strategies. The course emphasizes early identification of risks such as dropout tendencies, bullying, substance abuse, and child neglect within school settings.

Special attention is given to collaboration between schools, families, and community-based services. Participants will learn how to strengthen referral systems and build integrated support networks that enhance student welfare and ensure continuity of care beyond the classroom.

The course also addresses emerging challenges such as digital safety, cyberbullying, inclusive education, and mental health awareness in schools. It equips participants with modern tools and strategies to respond effectively to evolving educational and social dynamics affecting students.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with professional skills to design and implement effective school social work interventions that promote safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for all students.
