Course Introduction

Remote Sensing for Wetlands Assessment Training Course is designed to equip participants with advanced geospatial skills for mapping, monitoring, and analyzing wetland ecosystems using satellite imagery, GIS tools, and modern remote sensing technologies.

Wetlands are among the most productive yet vulnerable ecosystems on Earth, providing essential services such as water purification, flood control, and biodiversity support. Remote sensing enables efficient large-scale monitoring of these fragile environments.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in wetland classification, vegetation analysis, hydrological mapping, and change detection using multispectral and radar satellite data. The course emphasizes practical environmental applications.

The training also integrates Sentinel, Landsat, and SAR data for monitoring wetland dynamics under climate change and human pressure. Participants will learn to detect degradation, encroachment, and seasonal variations in wetland systems.

Special focus is given to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services assessment, climate resilience, and sustainable wetland management strategies using geospatial technologies.

Ultimately, this course empowers learners to support wetland conservation, environmental planning, and sustainable ecosystem management using advanced remote sensing tools.

Duration
5 days
