Course Introduction

The Radio Presentation and Programme Production Training Course equips aspiring and practicing radio presenters, producers, broadcasters, communication professionals, journalists, content creators, and media practitioners with practical skills for developing, producing, presenting, and evaluating compelling radio programmes. The course combines on-air presentation techniques with programme planning, editorial development, interviewing, scripting, audio production, audience engagement, and broadcast workflow management to help participants create professional and audience-focused radio content.

Effective radio communication depends on much more than having a pleasant voice. Presenters must understand their audience, communicate clearly without visual support, maintain energy and authenticity, manage time, conduct engaging interviews, respond naturally to unexpected developments, and create a strong relationship with listeners. Participants will learn techniques for voice control, pronunciation, breathing, pacing, tone, emphasis, conversational delivery, storytelling, microphone technique, and live presentation while developing a distinctive and credible on-air identity.

Programme production requires strong editorial planning and disciplined coordination. Participants will learn how to identify programme concepts, define target audiences, develop programme formats, research topics, structure episodes, prepare rundowns, write scripts, schedule contributors, select appropriate audio elements, and manage production timelines. The course examines different radio formats including news, talk shows, interviews, magazines, documentaries, educational programmes, entertainment, community radio, public affairs, and specialist programming.

The training provides practical approaches to interviewing and audience engagement. Participants will learn how to research guests, develop meaningful questions, manage conversations, handle difficult or unexpected responses, maintain editorial focus, and produce interviews that provide useful information and compelling stories. The course also explores listener interaction through phone-ins, text messages, social media, voice notes, live questions, competitions, polls, and other engagement methods while emphasizing moderation, verification, privacy, professionalism, and responsible audience participation.

Participants will also develop practical audio production skills for contemporary radio environments. They will explore recording techniques, microphone positioning, sound levels, editing, voiceovers, music, sound effects, transitions, jingles, continuity, studio workflows, remote production, digital audio, podcasts, livestreaming, and on-demand content. Emerging technologies, including AI-assisted transcription, audio editing, research, scripting, voice tools, programme analysis, and content planning, will be examined alongside important considerations involving accuracy, authenticity, copyright, disclosure, consent, and editorial responsibility.

The course concludes with integrated programme production and live presentation practice. Participants will develop programme concepts, produce complete segments, conduct interviews, prepare scripts and rundowns, record and edit audio, present live or simulated programmes, and evaluate their performance. They will learn how to use audience insights, programme analytics, listener feedback, and editorial reviews to improve future broadcasts. By the end of the training, participants will have the practical skills and production discipline required to create engaging, technically competent, responsible, and audience-relevant radio programming.
