Course Introduction

Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme for Internal Audit Training Course provides a comprehensive and practical approach to establishing, operating, evaluating, and continuously improving a Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme within an internal audit function. The course focuses on quality governance, professional standards, engagement quality, performance measurement, internal assessments, external assessments, stakeholder expectations, and sustainable improvement of audit effectiveness.

The program examines how internal audit leaders can develop a structured quality framework that evaluates whether audit activities are performed consistently, professionally, objectively, and in accordance with applicable professional requirements. Participants will explore quality policies, methodologies, audit procedures, supervision, review mechanisms, engagement documentation, reporting practices, performance indicators, and mechanisms for identifying and addressing opportunities for improvement.

Participants will develop practical capabilities for conducting ongoing monitoring and periodic self-assessments across the internal audit activity. The training addresses quality assessment techniques, engagement file reviews, compliance reviews, stakeholder feedback, performance evaluations, benchmarking, root cause analysis, maturity assessments, and corrective action planning. Particular emphasis is placed on turning quality assessment results into measurable improvements rather than treating quality assurance as a purely compliance-oriented exercise.

The course also explores independent external assessments and the preparation required for credible evaluation of the internal audit function. Participants will learn how to establish assessment readiness, organize evidence, demonstrate conformance, respond to observations, develop improvement plans, and communicate assessment outcomes to senior management and audit committees while preserving the independence and integrity of the internal audit function.

Modern internal audit functions operate in increasingly complex environments shaped by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, regulatory change, remote auditing, continuous auditing, and evolving stakeholder expectations. The course therefore incorporates emerging quality challenges, technology-enabled quality monitoring, automated review techniques, audit analytics, digital working papers, quality dashboards, and approaches for evaluating the effectiveness of technology-supported assurance activities.

By completing the program, participants will be better equipped to design and maintain a sustainable internal audit quality framework, perform effective quality assessments, identify root causes of quality deficiencies, establish improvement actions, measure audit performance, and communicate quality results to key stakeholders. The course emphasizes practical application and continuous improvement to help internal audit functions strengthen credibility, consistency, efficiency, stakeholder confidence, and overall assurance value.
