Course Introduction
The Qlik Sense Data Analytics and Dashboard Development Training Course provides comprehensive, practical training for professionals who need to build interactive analytics applications, transform source data, develop meaningful visualizations, and deliver business-focused dashboards with Qlik Sense. The course introduces the Qlik associative analytics approach and shows participants how selections made in one visualization can affect associated visualizations across an application, enabling users to investigate relationships and discover patterns interactively.
Participants learn how to connect Qlik Sense applications to diverse data sources, including spreadsheets, flat files, databases, cloud platforms, web-based sources, REST APIs, and other supported connectors. The training covers both Data Manager and the Data Load Editor so learners can choose appropriate approaches for straightforward data preparation as well as more sophisticated scripted loading and transformation. Qlik documentation describes Data Manager as a way to add and manage data without scripting, while the Data Load Editor supports more complex data-loading and transformation requirements.
A major focus of the course is Qlik Sense data modeling and load scripting. Participants learn how to create useful analytical structures, understand associations between fields and tables, identify synthetic keys and circular relationships, and use script statements to clean, transform, concatenate, aggregate, and reshape source data. The course emphasizes designing models deliberately because Qlik Sense uses common field names to establish associations between tables, making field naming and model structure important considerations for analytical accuracy and usability.
The dashboard development component focuses on turning modeled data into intuitive, interactive analytical applications. Participants learn to create charts, tables, KPIs, filters, selections, text and image components, containers, and other visualization objects while applying appropriate dimensions and measures. Qlik Sense applications use visualizations to explore loaded data, and selections made within visualizations are reflected across associated visualizations, providing the foundation for interactive exploratory analysis.
The course also develops advanced expression and analytics skills, including aggregation functions, conditional expressions, variables, reusable master items, and set analysis. Set analysis allows developers to define an analytical scope that differs from the current selection, supporting use cases such as prior-year comparisons, fixed-period metrics, market-share calculations, and other business comparisons. Participants learn how to combine these techniques to create dynamic measures and dashboards that answer practical business questions.
Performance, usability, maintainability, and deployment considerations are integrated throughout the program. Participants learn to structure load scripts into logical sections, validate data models, reduce unnecessary complexity, reuse dimensions and measures, troubleshoot expression and association issues, and optimize dashboard design. The final project brings these skills together in a complete Qlik Sense analytics application, taking participants from source data and transformation through modeling, visualization, interactive analysis, and presentation of business insights.
