Course Introduction
Digital skills have become essential to effective public administration as government workplaces increasingly depend on electronic documents, online systems, digital communication, data platforms, collaboration tools, workflow applications, and automated services. Administrative productivity now depends not only on individual effort but also on the ability to use technology efficiently, organize information effectively, collaborate digitally, and complete routine activities through streamlined processes. This course provides practical digital capabilities for improving public-sector productivity.
Public-sector employees frequently work across multiple applications, information sources, communication channels, documents, databases, and administrative procedures. Without appropriate digital skills, these tools can create information overload, duplicated work, communication gaps, errors, security risks, and unnecessary delays. Participants will learn practical methods for organizing digital work, managing electronic information, using productivity tools, communicating effectively, and reducing repetitive administrative activities.
The programme focuses on practical digital workplace capabilities rather than highly technical ICT training. Participants will explore electronic document management, digital correspondence, spreadsheets, presentations, online collaboration, shared workspaces, calendars, task management, information retrieval, digital forms, workflow tools, and basic data analysis. The training emphasizes applying these capabilities to real administrative responsibilities so that participants can save time, improve accuracy, strengthen coordination, and deliver better results.
Digital productivity increasingly depends on automation and intelligent tools. Participants will examine practical applications of workflow automation, templates, electronic forms, automated notifications, artificial intelligence assistants, generative AI, document-processing tools, and data analytics. The course provides guidance on identifying suitable tasks for digital enhancement while maintaining human judgment, information security, privacy, accuracy, accountability, and compliance with public-sector requirements.
Digital skills must also be accompanied by responsible technology practices. Participants will examine cybersecurity awareness, password and authentication practices, secure document handling, privacy, phishing awareness, information classification, safe collaboration, responsible AI use, and protection against data leakage. The programme also considers digital accessibility, inclusive technology adoption, varying levels of digital confidence, and strategies for supporting colleagues through workplace technology changes.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to use digital workplace tools more confidently, organize administrative information, collaborate effectively, improve document and task management, apply basic automation and AI capabilities, protect digital information, and identify opportunities for greater productivity. The training is designed to help public-sector employees work faster and smarter while improving accuracy, coordination, service quality, and sustainable administrative performance.
