Course Introduction
The Public Health Project Management Course provides a comprehensive framework for professionals responsible for planning, designing, financing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating public health projects and programmes. The course examines how public health priorities can be translated into structured interventions that address disease prevention, health promotion, health-system strengthening, population health, health equity, and improved access to quality health services.
The programme covers the complete public health project lifecycle, beginning with needs assessment, epidemiological analysis, stakeholder engagement, project design, feasibility assessment, budgeting, and resource mobilization. Participants will develop practical knowledge of implementation planning, procurement, workforce management, partnership coordination, risk management, monitoring, evaluation, learning, and sustainability across community, national, regional, and international public health initiatives.
A central focus is placed on evidence-based public health planning and decision-making. Participants will explore how demographic trends, disease burdens, social determinants of health, environmental conditions, behavioural factors, health inequalities, and health-system constraints influence project priorities. The course also examines approaches for designing interventions that are responsive to vulnerable populations, gender considerations, disability, socioeconomic inequalities, geographical disparities, and other determinants of health outcomes.
The course incorporates modern public health technologies and emerging approaches, including digital health, telemedicine, electronic health records, health information systems, geospatial analysis, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, mobile health applications, remote monitoring, and data-driven disease surveillance. Participants will consider how these technologies can improve project targeting, service delivery, early detection, resource allocation, population monitoring, and programme performance while addressing cybersecurity, privacy, interoperability, and digital inclusion.
Participants will strengthen their ability to manage the operational, financial, institutional, and stakeholder dimensions of complex public health projects. Particular attention is given to procurement, budgeting, grant management, quality assurance, workforce planning, health and safety, regulatory compliance, community engagement, safeguarding, and risk management. Practical monitoring and evaluation approaches will enable participants to track outputs, outcomes, health indicators, service quality, beneficiary experience, cost-effectiveness, and longer-term population-level impact.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to manage public health projects with greater strategic clarity, operational discipline, and measurable results. They will be able to develop evidence-based project plans, mobilize resources, coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders, manage implementation risks, leverage digital technologies, strengthen monitoring systems, and develop sustainable interventions that contribute to healthier, more resilient, equitable, and responsive communities.
