Introduction
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an evidence-informed and humane approach designed to support individuals experiencing distress following crises, emergencies, or traumatic events. As disasters, conflicts, health emergencies, and workplace crises increase globally, the need for timely, ethical, and effective psychosocial support has become more critical than ever.

This Psychological First Aid Training Course equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to provide immediate psychological and emotional support to affected individuals while promoting safety, calm, connection, and hope. PFA focuses on reducing initial distress and fostering short- and long-term adaptive functioning without requiring clinical diagnosis or therapy.

The course emphasizes a people-centered, culturally sensitive, and non-intrusive approach to psychosocial care. Participants learn how to respond appropriately to individuals’ emotional reactions, respect dignity, and avoid causing harm while offering meaningful and structured support during high-stress situations.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of how PFA differs from counseling and psychotherapy, and when to escalate or refer individuals to specialized mental health services. The training reinforces ethical boundaries, confidentiality, and self-awareness to ensure responsible and sustainable support provision.

Emerging challenges such as pandemics, climate-related disasters, digital trauma exposure, mass displacement, and workplace crises are integrated into the course content. Practical scenarios and case discussions ensure learners are equipped to apply PFA in diverse contexts and populations.

By the end of the training, participants will be confident in delivering Psychological First Aid in emergencies and everyday crises, strengthening community resilience, enhancing organizational preparedness, and contributing to effective mental health and psychosocial support systems.
