Introduction
Economic stress and unemployment profoundly impact mental health, family stability, and community wellbeing. This course explores the psychological effects of financial instability and job loss, equipping participants with tools to understand, manage, and mitigate these challenges effectively.
Participants will examine the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral consequences of economic stress, including anxiety, depression, diminished self-esteem, and social withdrawal. The course links psychological theory with real-world experiences to identify risk factors and protective mechanisms.
The course emphasizes evidence-based interventions to support individuals experiencing unemployment-related stress. Participants will learn strategies to promote resilience, coping, and mental wellbeing at individual, organizational, and community levels.
Special attention is given to vulnerable populations disproportionately affected by economic stress, including youth, women, marginalized communities, and informal workers. Participants will explore inclusive approaches to mental health support, counseling, and social protection mechanisms.
Participants will also examine the role of governments, NGOs, and private sector initiatives in addressing the psychosocial impact of unemployment. The course provides frameworks for program development, community outreach, and policy recommendations aimed at mitigating economic stress.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to assess the mental health effects of economic stress, design supportive interventions, and implement practical strategies that strengthen resilience, wellbeing, and social stability in affected populations.
