Introduction

Protection, safeguarding, and accountability are essential pillars of ethical and effective humanitarian programming. This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to uphold the safety, rights, and dignity of affected populations in diverse humanitarian contexts.

Participants will explore international protection standards, humanitarian principles, and the legal frameworks guiding protection and safeguarding interventions. Emphasis is placed on understanding obligations under international law, donor requirements, and organizational policies.

The course highlights practical strategies for safeguarding vulnerable groups, including children, women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized populations. Participants learn to identify, prevent, and respond to abuse, exploitation, and harm in humanitarian settings.
