Course Introduction
Project Management for Managers and Supervisors Course is designed to equip managers, supervisors, team leaders, and operational professionals with practical project management skills for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and successfully delivering projects. The course focuses on the managerial aspects of project delivery, enabling participants to translate organizational priorities into structured projects, coordinate people and resources, manage risks, and achieve agreed outcomes within defined constraints.
Managers and supervisors are frequently responsible for projects without necessarily being specialist project managers. They may need to introduce new systems, improve processes, coordinate events, implement policies, manage organizational changes, or deliver departmental initiatives while maintaining normal operations. Participants will learn how to define project objectives, establish scope, identify deliverables, create practical schedules, allocate resources, clarify responsibilities, and establish effective controls from project initiation through completion.
Successful projects depend on effective leadership and coordination as much as technical planning. The course develops capabilities in stakeholder management, delegation, communication, team coordination, negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making, and accountability. Participants will explore how to build project teams, manage competing priorities, resolve disagreements, maintain stakeholder confidence, and keep people focused on project outcomes even when circumstances change.
Project environments are increasingly affected by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, automation, hybrid working, data analytics, cybersecurity, supply-chain pressures, and rapidly changing organizational requirements. Participants will examine how modern technologies can support scheduling, collaboration, reporting, risk identification, documentation, and decision-making while considering emerging issues such as AI-assisted project management, data quality, cybersecurity, digital dependency, technology adoption, and changing workforce capabilities.
Effective project management also requires disciplined risk and performance management. Participants will learn how to identify project risks, assess their potential impact and likelihood, establish mitigation strategies, monitor dependencies, control changes, manage resources, and use meaningful performance indicators. The programme also emphasizes early identification of problems so that managers can take corrective action before delays, cost pressures, quality issues, or stakeholder dissatisfaction become difficult to resolve.
Throughout the five-day programme, participants will apply project management concepts through practical exercises, case studies, planning activities, project scenarios, risk assessments, stakeholder exercises, scheduling tasks, and project review activities. By the end of the course, participants will be able to apply a structured approach to managing projects, improve project team performance, strengthen delivery discipline, and create practical project plans that support successful organizational outcomes.
