Course Introduction

Precision agriculture (PA) leverages digital tools, sensors, and data analytics to optimize farm management and maximize productivity while minimizing resource use. This course equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to implement GPS, sensors, drones, and analytics in modern farming systems.

Participants will learn how to integrate spatial and temporal data to make informed decisions on crop management, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control. Emphasis is placed on understanding variability within fields and how precision technologies can enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

The course explores remote sensing, GIS mapping, variable-rate application, and real-time monitoring. Participants will gain hands-on experience with digital tools, enabling them to collect, interpret, and apply data effectively for farm-level decision-making.

Soil, crop, and environmental monitoring using sensors form a central part of the training. Participants will learn how to deploy soil moisture probes, weather stations, and crop health sensors to optimize inputs and improve sustainability.

Data analytics, modeling, and farm management software are covered extensively. Participants will be trained in using analytics to predict crop yields, detect stress, optimize resource allocation, and evaluate economic and environmental outcomes.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to implement precision agriculture strategies, leverage digital tools, and apply analytics to improve productivity, profitability, and sustainability in modern farming.
