Course Introduction

Power Plant Auxiliary Electrical Systems Training Course is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for designing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing auxiliary electrical systems that support reliable power plant operations. The course focuses on auxiliary power distribution, motor control systems, standby power supplies, protection systems, switchgear, transformers, emergency electrical systems, and electrical reliability to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted power generation in thermal, hydro, nuclear, combined cycle, and renewable energy power plants.

Auxiliary electrical systems are essential to the continuous operation of power plants because they supply electricity to critical equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, cooling systems, lubrication systems, control rooms, instrumentation, lighting, emergency systems, and plant utilities. Any failure within auxiliary electrical systems can lead to equipment damage, forced outages, production losses, and significant safety risks. This course equips participants with the engineering knowledge and practical techniques required to manage auxiliary electrical infrastructure throughout its lifecycle while maximizing plant availability and operational performance.

Participants will gain practical knowledge of auxiliary power distribution networks, station service transformers, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, standby generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), battery systems, electrical protection coordination, grounding systems, power quality analysis, cable systems, electrical testing, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, commissioning, and system performance evaluation.
