Course Introduction
Power Cable Jointing and Termination Training Course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for the safe, reliable, and standards-compliant jointing, terminating, testing, inspection, and maintenance of low-, medium-, and high-voltage power cables used in industrial facilities, utility networks, commercial buildings, renewable energy plants, and infrastructure projects. Proper cable jointing and termination are critical to maintaining electrical continuity, minimizing failures, preventing insulation breakdown, ensuring personnel safety, and maximizing the operational reliability and service life of electrical power systems.
Modern electrical networks depend on underground and overhead cable systems to transmit and distribute electrical energy efficiently. Poor workmanship during cable jointing and termination can lead to partial discharge, overheating, insulation deterioration, moisture ingress, electrical tracking, equipment failure, unplanned outages, and costly repairs. This course provides a systematic approach to cable preparation, conductor connection, insulation restoration, stress control, sealing techniques, mechanical protection, testing, commissioning, and quality assurance in accordance with international standards and manufacturer recommendations.
Participants will develop practical skills in cable identification, cable handling, conductor preparation, crimping, compression and mechanical connectors, heat-shrink, cold-shrink, resin-filled, taped, and pre-molded jointing technologies, cable gland installation, cable lug termination, stress cone installation, insulation restoration, shielding and earthing techniques, cable testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair. The course emphasizes workmanship quality, safety, precision, and compliance with IEC, IEEE, BS, NEC, and other applicable electrical standards.
The course also examines the integration of cable installation and maintenance activities with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), digital inspection platforms, mobile maintenance applications, and asset lifecycle management systems. Participants will learn how digital technologies improve work planning, quality documentation, asset traceability, inspection reporting, and maintenance decision-making.
Emerging technologies including smart cable monitoring systems, fiber optic sensing, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, predictive diagnostics, digital twins, robotic inspection, augmented reality work instructions, and cloud-based maintenance platforms are explored through practical case studies and industry applications.
