Course Introduction
Organic farming systems represent a holistic approach to agricultural production that avoids synthetic inputs while promoting ecological balance, soil health, and biodiversity. This course introduces participants to the principles, practices, and certification frameworks that define modern organic agriculture systems.
Growing global demand for safe, chemical-free food products has increased the importance of organic agriculture in both local and international markets. This training provides participants with knowledge on how to transition from conventional to organic systems while maintaining productivity and sustainability.
Participants will explore core organic farming practices including composting, biological pest control, green manure use, crop rotation, and integrated soil fertility management techniques that ensure long-term soil regeneration and ecosystem health.
The course also focuses on organic certification systems, standards, and compliance requirements, helping participants understand national and international certification processes, documentation, and audit preparedness.
In addition, emphasis is placed on market access, value chain development, and premium pricing strategies for certified organic products, enabling farmers and agribusinesses to benefit economically from organic production systems.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to design, implement, and manage certified organic farming systems that meet global standards while improving environmental sustainability and farm profitability.
