Course Introduction
Public engagement and citizen participation are fundamental pillars of democratic governance and inclusive development, enabling NGOs to ensure that communities are actively involved in shaping decisions that affect their lives. This course builds strong engagement competencies.
In today’s development landscape, organizations are expected not only to deliver services but also to ensure meaningful participation of citizens in planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. This shift requires structured engagement systems and inclusive methodologies.
The course explores practical tools and frameworks for designing participatory processes that strengthen trust, transparency, and accountability between NGOs and the communities they serve, ensuring that voices of marginalized groups are included.
Participants will learn how to facilitate community dialogue, stakeholder consultations, participatory planning sessions, and feedback mechanisms that improve program relevance and social legitimacy of development interventions.
A strong emphasis is placed on building sustainable engagement systems that go beyond one-time consultations to continuous citizen involvement in governance, monitoring, and decision-making processes.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and manage public engagement strategies that enhance inclusion, strengthen accountability, and improve development outcomes.
