Course Introduction

Organizational effectiveness is a critical determinant of success for non-governmental organizations operating in increasingly complex development and humanitarian environments. NGOs must continuously assess their structures, systems, processes, leadership practices, and operational performance to remain relevant, accountable, and impactful. This course provides practical knowledge and tools for conducting comprehensive organizational diagnostics and developing targeted improvement plans that strengthen institutional capacity and long-term sustainability.

Many NGOs face challenges related to inefficient processes, weak governance systems, unclear roles and responsibilities, limited resource utilization, and fragmented organizational learning mechanisms. Without systematic organizational assessments, these issues can undermine program delivery, donor confidence, staff performance, and stakeholder trust. This training equips participants with methodologies to identify organizational strengths, diagnose performance gaps, and prioritize strategic improvements.

Organizational diagnostics involve the systematic examination of internal and external factors affecting institutional effectiveness.
