As localization agendas gain momentum globally, NGOs must strengthen the institutional, technical, financial, and leadership capacities of local organizations to ensure effective and lasting development outcomes. Building strong local partner ecosystems enhances ownership, accountability, and resilience while reducing dependency on external actors.
This course provides participants with practical frameworks, methodologies, and tools for assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating local partner capacity strengthening initiatives. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of organizational development principles and how they can be applied to improve governance, management systems, program delivery, and institutional sustainability among local partner organizations.
The course explores capacity strengthening as a collaborative and long-term process rather than a one-time intervention. Participants will learn how to foster equitable partnerships, co-create capacity development plans, and support organizational growth while respecting local contexts, priorities, and leadership structures. Emphasis is placed on participatory approaches that promote ownership and institutional transformation.
