Course Introduction

Ethics, safeguarding, and organizational accountability are foundational pillars for credible and effective NGO operations. In today’s development and humanitarian environment, organizations are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards while ensuring protection of vulnerable populations. This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical tools to strengthen ethical decision-making, safeguarding systems, and accountability frameworks within their organizations.

NGOs operate in sensitive environments where power imbalances, resource constraints, and complex stakeholder relationships can create risks of misconduct, exploitation, and abuse. Strong safeguarding systems are essential to prevent harm and ensure dignity, respect, and safety for all beneficiaries and staff. This course explores how to design and implement safeguarding mechanisms that are proactive, preventive, and responsive.
