Introduction

Nature-based solutions have emerged as one of the most effective, sustainable, and inclusive pathways to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and land degradation. The Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Resilience and Ecosystem Restoration Training Course equips professionals with the knowledge and skills to design, implement, and scale up NbS that enhance ecosystem health while strengthening climate adaptation and mitigation outcomes.

This course explores how integrating natural systems into planning, policy, and development processes can deliver multiple co-benefits from reducing disaster risks and restoring degraded lands to improving livelihoods and biodiversity. Participants will examine frameworks and approaches that align NbS with global agendas such as the Paris Agreement, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

Through an interactive and practical learning approach, the training emphasizes designing and evaluating NbS that deliver tangible environmental, social, and economic results. Participants will gain a deep understanding of tools and metrics used for planning, financing, and monitoring NbS projects across various ecosystems, including forests, wetlands, coasts, and urban areas.

The course also highlights the role of communities, local knowledge, and participatory governance in the successful implementation of NbS. It explores inclusive models that empower vulnerable populations and indigenous communities while enhancing resilience and ecosystem stewardship.

Participants will engage with real-world case studies that demonstrate successful NbS applications from mangrove restoration and reforestation initiatives to green infrastructure for urban flood control. They will learn how to integrate NbS into climate adaptation planning, environmental policies, and sustainable financing mechanisms.

Ultimately, this course provides a holistic foundation for advancing nature-based climate solutions that support both people and the planet. It empowers participants to become sustainability leaders capable of transforming policy, business, and community practices toward a climate-resilient, nature-positive future.
