Course Introduction

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plays a critical role in ensuring that climate and environmental projects achieve their intended outcomes effectively, efficiently, and sustainably. This course provides a comprehensive foundation in designing, implementing, and managing M&E systems tailored specifically for environmental and climate-focused interventions.

As global climate challenges intensify, there is increasing demand for evidence-based decision-making in environmental programming. This course equips participants with the analytical and technical skills required to track progress, measure impact, and improve accountability in climate adaptation and mitigation initiatives.

Participants will explore advanced M&E frameworks, including results-based management, logical frameworks, theory of change models, and climate indicators that help assess environmental performance and resilience outcomes across diverse project contexts.

The course emphasizes practical application of M&E tools, including data collection techniques, GIS integration, remote sensing for environmental tracking, and digital monitoring platforms that support real-time climate data analysis and reporting.

Special attention is given to integrating climate risk indicators, sustainability metrics, and environmental safeguards into monitoring systems, ensuring that development interventions align with global climate goals and environmental standards.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to design robust M&E systems that enhance transparency, improve project performance, and support evidence-based environmental policy and program decision-making.
