Course Introduction
Mixed-Methods Research Analytics with AI Training Course provides researchers and professionals with practical knowledge for integrating artificial intelligence into mixed-methods research. Participants will learn how AI can support the collection, preparation, analysis, integration, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative evidence while maintaining appropriate methodological standards and researcher oversight.
Mixed-methods research combines numerical evidence with qualitative insights to develop a richer understanding of complex research questions. This course examines how AI can assist with both sides of the research process, including statistical exploration, survey analysis, text analytics, coding, thematic analysis, pattern identification, and evidence synthesis. Participants will explore how these capabilities can be connected within coherent mixed-methods designs.
The programme introduces practical AI applications for quantitative research, including data cleaning, exploratory analysis, classification, prediction, visualisation support, and automated interpretation assistance. Participants will also examine AI-supported qualitative techniques such as transcript coding, thematic analysis, sentiment analysis, document analysis, summarisation, and semantic comparison. Emphasis is placed on selecting methods that align with research objectives rather than using AI simply because it is available.
A central focus of the course is the integration of qualitative and quantitative findings. Participants will learn how AI can help identify relationships between numerical patterns and textual themes, compare findings across datasets, generate joint displays, organise evidence, and support mixed-methods interpretation. The course addresses practical approaches for connecting datasets while preserving differences in methodological assumptions and forms of evidence.
The programme also examines the responsible use of AI in research, including privacy, confidentiality, informed consent, data governance, bias, hallucinations, reproducibility, transparency, and inappropriate automation. Participants will learn how to validate AI-generated outputs, document AI involvement, protect research participants, and distinguish computational suggestions from evidence-based research conclusions.
By completing the Mixed-Methods Research Analytics with AI Training Course, participants will be better prepared to design AI-supported mixed-methods workflows that combine quantitative analysis, qualitative interpretation, and integrated evidence synthesis. The course emphasises practical application, methodological coherence, responsible AI adoption, transparent reporting, and researcher judgement throughout the research lifecycle.
