Course Introduction
Microsoft Fabric Data Governance and Administration Training Course provides a comprehensive and practical foundation for managing, securing, governing, and monitoring Microsoft Fabric environments. The course focuses on the administrative capabilities required to establish controlled enterprise analytics platforms, including tenant settings, workspaces, capacities, domains, user access, governance policies, security controls, monitoring, auditing, and organizational data management.
The course introduces the administrative architecture of Microsoft Fabric and explains how administrators can configure tenant-wide capabilities, delegate responsibilities, manage workspaces, control feature access, and monitor platform usage. Participants examine the Fabric admin portal and related Microsoft administration tools while learning how administrative responsibilities can be distributed across Fabric, capacity, workspace, and other specialized roles.
Participants will develop practical knowledge of Fabric governance, including data discovery, classification, lineage, certification, domains, metadata management, access control, auditing, and governance monitoring. The course also explores the OneLake catalog, which provides centralized experiences for discovering, governing, and securing Fabric data and offers Govern and Secure capabilities for improving organizational data management.
Security is a major component of the training. Participants learn how Microsoft Entra ID, workspace roles, item permissions, OneLake security roles, row-level security, column-level security, audit logs, conditional access, and other controls can be combined to protect enterprise data. The course distinguishes between control-plane permissions and data-plane permissions so that administrators can understand how access to Fabric resources and access to the underlying data are governed.
The training also addresses data protection and compliance requirements, including sensitivity labels, Microsoft Purview capabilities, information protection, data loss prevention, auditing, lineage, and organizational policies. Participants explore how governance practices can promote trusted data while supporting appropriate access, regulatory requirements, privacy considerations, and responsible use of analytics resources across an enterprise.
Emerging administration and governance issues are integrated throughout the course, including AI governance, Copilot considerations, automated governance insights, metadata scanning, service principals, multi-geo environments, third-party engine access, and evolving OneLake security capabilities. By the end of the course, participants will be better prepared to establish secure, governed, monitored, and scalable Microsoft Fabric environments that support both current analytics needs and evolving enterprise data strategies.
