Introduction
Humanitarian supply chains operate in high-pressure, unpredictable, and often dangerous environments where operational stress directly affects mental health and performance. This course examines the intersection between mental wellbeing and supply chain effectiveness in humanitarian contexts.
Participants will explore how prolonged emergencies, resource constraints, security risks, and ethical dilemmas impact the psychological wellbeing of logistics and supply chain personnel. The course links mental health considerations to decision-making, risk management, and operational continuity.
The course emphasizes that mental health is a critical enabler of safe, efficient, and accountable humanitarian supply chains. Participants will learn how stress, burnout, and trauma influence errors, delays, compliance failures, and overall supply chain resilience.
Participants will examine organizational responsibility for protecting mental wellbeing across procurement, warehousing, transport, and last-mile delivery functions. The course highlights leadership, duty of care, and safeguarding practices within humanitarian operations.
Special attention is given to field-based staff, drivers, warehouse teams, and frontline logisticians working in conflict, disaster, and fragile settings. Participants will gain practical strategies to strengthen individual resilience and supportive team environments.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to integrate mental health and psychosocial support into humanitarian supply chain policies, operations, and performance systems, improving staff wellbeing and operational reliability.
