Introduction

Mental health and psychosocial well-being are critical components of humanitarian and development responses, particularly in contexts of conflict, disasters, and displacement. NGOs and practitioners must be equipped to design and implement MHPSS programs that address diverse needs effectively.

This course provides participants with a thorough understanding of mental health principles, psychosocial support strategies, and evidence-based interventions for crisis-affected populations. It emphasizes culturally sensitive and inclusive approaches to care.

Participants will learn to assess community and individual mental health needs, identify risk and protective factors, and tailor interventions for children, adolescents, adults, and vulnerable groups.

Program design skills are central to effective MHPSS delivery. The course covers frameworks, guidelines, and tools for developing interventions that integrate mental health care into broader humanitarian and development programs.

Monitoring, evaluation, and learning are essential for program accountability and improvement. Participants will gain practical skills in measuring impact, tracking outcomes, and adapting programs based on evidence.

Through case studies, simulations, and participatory exercises, participants will develop the expertise to design, implement, and scale MHPSS programs that strengthen resilience, promote well-being, and foster community recovery.
