Introduction

The Livestock Value Chain Development and Market Linkages course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to analyze, develop, and strengthen livestock value chains. It focuses on improving the efficiency, inclusivity, and sustainability of livestock production, processing, and marketing systems while fostering strong linkages between producers and markets.

This course explores the critical roles of stakeholders across the value chain from input suppliers and producers to processors, traders, and consumers emphasizing value addition, market access, and policy frameworks. Participants will learn how to identify opportunities for growth, address bottlenecks, and promote inclusive and climate-resilient livestock value chains.

Through a blend of theoretical sessions, case studies, and practical exercises, the course offers actionable insights into fostering partnerships, enhancing productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Additionally, it highlights the importance of gender inclusion, social equity, and sustainability in livestock-based economies.
