Course Introduction

Leadership, Information Management and Decision Support Training Course is designed to equip current and emerging leaders with the capabilities required to manage information strategically and use reliable evidence to support effective organisational decisions. The programme brings together leadership, information management, decision support, analytics, governance, and organisational strategy to help participants convert information into meaningful insights and actionable decisions.

In today's information-intensive organisations, leaders are expected to make timely decisions despite increasing volumes of data, competing priorities, uncertainty, and rapidly changing operating environments. Effective decision-making therefore depends not only on leadership judgement but also on the ability to identify relevant information, evaluate its quality, interpret evidence, and communicate conclusions effectively. This course provides practical frameworks for integrating information into strategic and operational leadership.

The programme examines how information should be collected, organised, analysed, protected, and presented to support decision-makers. Participants will explore information quality, information governance, knowledge management, business intelligence, performance indicators, dashboards, reporting systems, and analytical techniques. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that leaders receive relevant, accurate, timely, and appropriately contextualised information rather than simply receiving larger quantities of data.

Strong decision support also requires leaders to understand how people interpret information and respond to uncertainty. Participants will examine critical thinking, strategic analysis, risk assessment, scenario planning, problem-solving, cognitive biases, stakeholder perspectives, and evidence-based management. The course encourages leaders to combine analytical evidence with professional judgement, organisational knowledge, ethical considerations, and strategic priorities when addressing complex challenges.

Emerging technologies are rapidly changing decision support and information management. The programme explores artificial intelligence, generative AI, predictive analytics, automation, real-time dashboards, cloud platforms, machine learning, and intelligent decision-support systems. Participants will examine the opportunities and limitations of these technologies, including data quality, algorithmic bias, explainability, misinformation, privacy, cybersecurity, automation risks, and the continuing importance of human oversight.

Through practical case studies, decision-making simulations, analytical exercises, leadership scenarios, group discussions, and workplace-focused activities, participants will develop practical approaches for improving decision support within their organisations. By the end of the programme, they will be better equipped to manage information strategically, interpret evidence, strengthen leadership decisions, manage information-related risks, and establish decision-support practices that improve organisational performance and resilience.
