Introduction
In the modern, knowledge-driven landscape, organizations must effectively capture, share, and utilize knowledge to remain competitive and innovative. The Knowledge Management (KM) Course is designed to equip participants with the tools, frameworks, and best practices needed to systematically manage organizational knowledge turning individual expertise and institutional experiences into shared assets that drive decision-making, learning, and performance.
This course explores the principles and practices of knowledge creation, storage, transfer, and application within organizations and development contexts. Participants will learn how to identify critical knowledge, design knowledge-sharing systems, and cultivate a culture of continuous learning. Emphasis is placed on both tacit and explicit knowledge, the integration of technology and collaboration platforms, and strategies for overcoming common KM challenges.
Participants will also gain practical experience in developing KM strategies, establishing communities of practice, and leveraging tools such as knowledge repositories, storytelling, after-action reviews, and lessons-learned processes. The course highlights how KM supports innovation, program effectiveness, and institutional memory especially in dynamic sectors such as public service, international development, education, and the private sector.
By the end of the course, learners will be well-prepared to lead or support knowledge management initiatives that align with organizational goals and enhance operational effectiveness.
