Introduction

The Integrating Gender, Equity, and Social Inclusion (GESI) in M&E Frameworks Training Course is designed to strengthen participants’ capacity to design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems that are inclusive, gender-responsive, and socially equitable. The course emphasizes the need for M&E practitioners to embed GESI principles into every stage of project planning, implementation, and assessment to ensure that no group is left behind.

As global development programs increasingly prioritize inclusivity, the ability to measure and evaluate gender and social outcomes has become a critical skill. This training explores frameworks and methodologies for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data that reflect diverse gender experiences, social realities, and power dynamics. Participants will gain an understanding of how to translate commitments to gender equality and social inclusion into measurable results within M&E systems.

Through a combination of theoretical insights and hands-on exercises, participants will learn to develop indicators that capture gender equity outcomes and inclusion impacts. The course introduces tools for disaggregating data by gender, age, disability, and socio-economic status, enabling practitioners to identify disparities and design targeted interventions that promote fairness and empowerment.

The training also focuses on integrating qualitative approaches that amplify the voices of marginalized and underrepresented groups. Participants will explore participatory M&E methodologies that engage communities in defining success and measuring progress, thereby improving program accountability and relevance.

Emerging topics such as feminist evaluation, intersectional data analysis, and the role of artificial intelligence in gender-sensitive M&E are explored. These innovative approaches help participants adapt to evolving development priorities and ensure that monitoring frameworks remain responsive to complex and diverse human needs.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to create robust, inclusive M&E frameworks that not only track project outcomes but also advance gender equality, social justice, and equitable development across sectors.
