Introduction
Information Governance and Institutional Recordkeeping have become strategic imperatives for organizations operating in complex regulatory and digital environments. As information volumes expand rapidly, institutions must adopt structured governance approaches that ensure records are authentic, reliable, accessible, and legally defensible throughout their lifecycle.
Institutional recordkeeping provides the foundation for accountability, transparency, and organizational memory. This course explores how effective governance frameworks integrate policies, processes, and technologies to control information assets, support compliance obligations, and enable informed decision-making across public, private, and non-profit sectors.
The digital transformation of recordkeeping systems introduces new risks related to cybersecurity, data protection, privacy, and technological obsolescence. Participants will examine how governance mechanisms mitigate these risks while maintaining trust, evidential integrity, and continuity of institutional operations.
Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, automation, and data analytics are reshaping how records are created, managed, and preserved. This course critically assesses these technologies, highlighting opportunities for efficiency and innovation alongside ethical, legal, and operational challenges.
Strong information governance enhances institutional resilience by supporting audits, investigations, litigation readiness, and crisis response. Through applied models and case studies, participants will learn how recordkeeping systems contribute to risk management, business continuity, and sustainable governance outcomes.
Designed for professionals responsible for managing information assets, this course combines theory, international standards, and practical tools. Participants will gain the competencies required to design, implement, and evaluate governance-driven recordkeeping systems that respond effectively to evolving institutional and technological demands.
