Course Introduction

Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) environments are critical components supporting essential services and industrial operations across sectors such as energy, manufacturing, transportation, oil and gas, water utilities, telecommunications, healthcare, and critical infrastructure. These systems are increasingly becoming targets of sophisticated cyberattacks aimed at disrupting operations, compromising industrial processes, damaging physical infrastructure, and impacting national and organizational security. This Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and OT Cybersecurity Course is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and advanced cybersecurity strategies for protecting industrial environments against evolving cyber threats.

Modern industrial operations rely heavily on interconnected ICS, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, programmable logic controllers, smart sensors, Industrial Internet of Things technologies, and automated operational networks. While these technologies improve efficiency, productivity, and operational visibility, they also introduce significant cybersecurity vulnerabilities that can be exploited by cybercriminals, insider threats, nation-state actors, and advanced persistent threat groups. The course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of OT security risks, industrial vulnerabilities, and resilient defense mechanisms necessary for securing industrial environments.

The course explores critical areas including ICS security governance, industrial network security, OT risk management, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, incident response, cyber resilience planning, and industrial security monitoring. Participants will learn how to identify industrial cybersecurity risks, implement layered security controls, secure industrial communication protocols, strengthen operational resilience, and align ICS cybersecurity practices with international standards and regulatory requirements applicable to critical infrastructure environments.

As industrial organizations continue to adopt digital transformation initiatives, cloud-enabled industrial platforms, remote operational access systems, artificial intelligence technologies, and interconnected industrial ecosystems, cybersecurity risks associated with operational technology continue to increase significantly. This training examines emerging cyber threats including ransomware attacks targeting industrial systems, supply chain compromises, AI-enabled cyberattacks, remote access exploitation, and vulnerabilities affecting industrial automation and smart infrastructure systems.

The training adopts a practical and highly interactive learning approach using industrial cybersecurity simulations, OT attack scenarios, vulnerability assessments, threat analysis exercises, and resilience planning workshops. Participants will strengthen their capability to detect suspicious activities, coordinate industrial incident response operations, manage cyber crises affecting industrial environments, and implement proactive defense strategies that improve operational continuity and industrial resilience against cyber threats.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to establish effective ICS and OT cybersecurity governance frameworks, strengthen industrial cyber resilience, improve threat detection capabilities, and support secure industrial transformation initiatives confidently. The course equips professionals with strategic, technical, and operational expertise necessary to protect industrial environments, secure critical operational technologies, manage evolving cyber risks, and maintain safe and resilient industrial operations in increasingly connected digital ecosystems.
