Course Introduction

Inclusive Urban Mobility and Transport Planning Course is designed to equip urban planners, transport engineers, policymakers, and development practitioners with the skills to design accessible, equitable, and sustainable transport systems for all population groups.

Rapid urbanization has intensified mobility challenges in cities, often disproportionately affecting women, persons with disabilities, low-income groups, and informal settlement residents. This course explores inclusive planning approaches that ensure no one is left behind in urban transport systems.

Participants will examine integrated transport planning frameworks that combine infrastructure design, policy development, and social inclusion principles to improve accessibility, safety, and affordability in urban mobility systems.

The course also focuses on modern urban transport innovations including mass transit systems, non-motorized transport, and smart mobility solutions that enhance efficiency while promoting equity and environmental sustainability.

Special emphasis is placed on gender-responsive transport planning, universal design principles, and participatory planning approaches that integrate community voices into urban mobility decision-making processes.

Ultimately, the course empowers professionals to design inclusive urban transport systems that enhance connectivity, reduce inequality, and support sustainable urban development.
